Fort Worth tells residents to be wary of people posing as water department employees
The Fort Worth Water Department advises residents to be suspicious of people posing as Water Department employees or contractors to get into their homes.
The department received a recent complaint of a man who tried to gain access by claiming there was a water-quality problem and that he needed a sample from inside the home. The incident occurred in Far North Fort Worth. There was no water-quality problem.
Water Department employees rarely need access to a resident’s home unless a resident makes a complaint to the department. Residents who are approached by anyone saying they represent the city should ask to see photo identification.
All field employees drive marked vehicles, wear uniforms and carry a city-issued photo identification badge.
People falsely claiming to be city employees are committing fraud.
Report an incident to the Fort Worth Police Department, 817-335-4222, and to the Water Department, 817-392-4477.
