Lone Star Uke Fest and Music Camp comes to Dallas

0

The first Lone Star Ukulele Festival and Music Camp will come to Dallas, April 30 - May 2. The event features nationwide talent, including Gerald Ross from Michigan, Victoria Vox from Maryland, Michelle Kiba from Hawaii, Pops Bayless and Bob Guz from Austin, and local talent Gerald Jones and Lu Mitchell.

Activities for musicians and beginners will include uke classes on blues, swing, Hawaiian music, and Tin Pan Alley styles as well as Hawaiian lap steel guitar, song writing, hula dancing, swing guitar, vocal coaching and mandolin.

Two concerts will highlight the instructors and performers. The festival also includes Jam sessions, open-mic night, a silent auction and exhibitor booths to round out the festivals selection of classes and activities for entertainment and learning. Each student receives a goodie bag and Jam Book included in registration.

The ukulele weekend will culminate on Saturday in a luau dinner/concert.

With an emphasis on fun and hands-on instruction, the Lone Star Uke Fest and Music Camp provides a variety of ways to make music in a friendly, and supportive environment. Coming to the Camp is an inexpensive and easy way to begin learning about the ukulele in the beginner classes or to improve skills in the more advanced classes. “Joining a Ukulele Jam group helps build community, and makes people happy in these uncertain times”, said Noel Tardy owner of UkeLadyMusic.com, who is a performer, teacher, and Ukulele dealer in North Texas.

Special room rates and shuttle are available at The Holiday Inn Select, 2645 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75243. Call 972-243-3363 for reservations.

Come to the Lonestar Ukulele Festival, and take a vacation the weekend of April 30-May 2. The festival will take place at the Metropolitan Community Church, 2735 Villa Creek Drive #290, Farmers Branch. For more information check out www.lonestarukefest.com
