Fort Worth has a $50 million budget deficit
Fort Worth city leaders "learned" Tuesday (really? You had no inkling before now?) that the city will face a $50 million gap in their budget this year. The gap is a result in a decrease in tax collections, along with - surprise! - the bad economy, which took a big chunk out of retirement plans, which the city will have to either make up for in additional funds or tell future retirees that they aren't getting the same benefits. The gap could result in more layoffs, but none are planned at the moment.

ontos, says:
I consider the arbitrary and unnannounced Fort Worth code-enforcement action (accompanied by theft of lawn furniture) in September and multiple Fort Worth traffic stops (costing several hundred dollars) I suffered in December-February evidence that Fort Worth has been quite aware of its budgeting shortfalls for some time.
