University of Dallas reveals spring theater production

0

For their spring production, University of Dallas is presenting four Senior Thesis Productions on two nights. And not only that, all the performances are free. The shows are scheduled for April 23 & 24, and the times are yet to be determined. Here are the shows:

  • Happy Journey to Trenton and Camden - Thornton Wilder's one-act predecessor to Our Town, is a character study following the Kirby family as they take a car trip through New Jersey to visit their eldest daughter. Along the way, they are constantly guided and sustained by Ma, a strong, loving New England mother. Directed by Audrey Ahern.
  • Rosalind - by J.M. Barrie the famous playwright of Peter Pan, is a fantastical story of the eternal dilemma of whether to continue ageing or forever dance in the delights of youthfulness. Mrs. Page is wallowing in middle age with her landlady when she encounters Charles. She must then decide between ageing and family or youth and her career.
  • The Bespoke Overcoat - written by Wolf Mankowitz and directed by James Mackenzie. Overcoat's a ghost story adapted from a tale by Nikolai Gogol. An old warehouse clerk comes back from the afterlife to collect what he never received: an overcoat.
  • Kaleidoscope - written by Ray Bradbury and directed by Rachael Berecka. Captain Hollis and his crew face death after their shuttle breaks apart in space. The astronauts' only contact with reality is their radio. Isolated, surrounded by infinite space, they stare at stark fate. They take us on a journey not only through space but into ourselves.

Also, stay tuned because the department will be specially performing on May 5th and 6th a world premiere developed in the advanced production class.
