DART could increase fares (again) as early as September
Despite increasing rates as recently as 2007, Dallas Area Rapid Transit are considering another fare hike. DART board members are discussing increasing the daily fare from $3 to $4, and a monthly pass increase from $50 to $65. Many of the changes are expected September 14, which include increases to the Trinity Railway Express commuter line.
While DART typically waits five years between fare changes, the board is citing falling sales tax revenue and higher operating costs imposed by the upcoming Green Line.

Perhaps it has something to do with that billion dollar "miscalculation" at the DART headquarters?

I knew $50 bucks for a monthly pass was too good to last long.

I guess that means I will have to start walking more or get a new bike tire. I need the exercise anyway.

Speaking of bikes, DART now has bike racks on the front of evey bus. If you get tired of biking, you can just put your bike on the rack and ride for part of the trip.
