The Stars, despite some roster moves, are getting further from the playoffs every day. The Mavs, conversely, are perking up ... Saturday is the Diamond Hill Boxing Club Tournament of Champions ... It looks like the CupCheck hacked Mike Modano's Twitter account.
Music: Who needs SXSW when we've got NX35 in Denton this weekend? ... Ron Dempesmeier says that Derek Trucks' Granada gig was jaw-dropping, while Travis Bush favored the FW Symphony doing Zeppelin ... Reading and Radio Resource talked to Van Cliburn hopefuls ... Gobbler's Knob got to spend some time with Charlie Robison before his Hank's show.

- Debby Boone and the Glenn Miller Orchestra pay tribute to Rosemary Clooney at the Meyerson (all weekend).
- There are NX35 shows all over Denton all weekend.
- Aisha Tyler is at the Improv (all weekend).
- Steampunk fanatics will be at the Lizard Lounge.
- The Black Women's Film Fest is at the South Dallas Cultural Center (all weekend).
- The Eighth-annual Texas Guitar Competition is at UTD.
- NX35 continues in Denton.
- Most of the big St. Patrick's festivities are today, including the Dash; Greenville Avenue parade; the afterparty featuring The Old 97s / Eleven Hundred Springs / Drams / The O’s; and Dallas' most Irish band, The Killdares.
- Cedric the Entertainer is at Nokia.
- The Texas Pinball Festival is in Grapevine all weekend.
- Also in Grapevine is the 5th Annual Chocolate Fest. (Mmmm... Chocolate.)
- The name "All-Con" sounds generic but it sounds like it will comprehensively serve every geek-chic category you can imagine.
- Celebrate Thelonious Monk at Arts Fifth Avenue
- After the St. Patty's party is over, the Granada hosts Tokyo Police Club / Ra Ra Riot / Ruby Coast.
- Spanish folk-metal at the HOB with Mago de Oz.
- M. Ward plays a special show at the Dallas Museum of Art.
- Even more NX35.
