"Ladies - have I got a movie for you!"

There are no fewer than six new movies beginning their theatrical runs in North Texas this week, and with so many titles to choose from there ought to be something for everyone.

In fact, there are somethings for only certain ones. Specifically:

* Gorehounds and (17+) teenagers looking for a gut-wrenching thrill (The Last House on the Left)

* Lovers of low-brow, questionable-taste humor and (17+) teenagers looking for a nasty thrill (Miss March)

* Immigration sympathizers and (17+) teenagers looking for a really complicated and fragmented plot line (Crossing Over)

* Married writers considering having children together and (13+) teenagers looking for information about Turrets syndrome (Phoebe in Wonderland)

* Jewish women's rights advocates, mavens of sapphic love and (17+) teenagers with an interest in the Talmud (The Secrets)

* Kids - and the adults guardians who are looking for something - ANYTHING - to divert their attention for 98 minutes (Race to Witch Mountain)

Special thanks to guest reviewer Susan Kandell for providing us with her insightful review of The Secrets (Ha-Sodot).

No love for Amy Adams' "Sunshine Cleaning"? (And wasn't the free screening Thursday night presented by Pegasus News??)

All true, Howard, and plenty o' love - but the film doesn't open in regular release (here locally) until next Friday (20th).

Thus, I'm holding the review 'til then.
