Dallas civil rights group sues to stop construction of Convention Center hotel
DALLAS A group of civil rights advocates led by Reverend Peter Johnson and Reverend Ronald Wright have filed a lawsuit to stop any building of the Convention Center hotel until people get a chance to vote on it.
Dave Levinthal gets a nice quote from the lawyer, who says it's a "slap in the face to voters" to rush construction through before the May 9 referendum. Demolition on the site began last week. Mayor Tom Leppert and the pro-hotel faction are eager to get the hotel going ASAP.

Very bazaar that they would start anything until the vote. Very important for those who are against it to turn out and vote!

True, but these "civil rights leaders" have clearly been bought by the no-build camp. They whore themselves out to the highest bidder in every referendum campaign. This is clearly NOT a civil rights issue.

It's not right and it's not civil?

Great observation Scott, great observation. I guess this is a creative way to keep the issue out there in the public eye?

Who says you are not allowed to come to the hotel?
Why would we need to impeach the Mayor? If you don't like him, you can always just vote against him, and if enough people agree with you, he will be voted out of office...no need to get so dramatic.

So I'm confused, are you for or against the public making these decisions?

No one knows what is going on Madoff and paid offs,... I am beginning to think, this city is in a big....fallout...but then again, one newspaper cant cover the fallout, even the Observer is perplexed, while....there are some good Peg resources here....we are looking at a new planet in 2 years....so ...when they tear down one thing and begin to build the same thing all over again...then we have to ask the question, do you draw water or do you pour it out....QA/T, ..The Mayor drinks and pours out Coors light...
