Mayor of Dallas honors Column Awards with own special day

"A truly beautiful, exciting, and heart tugging moment."

Ten years. For the last ten years we have honored and celebrated the finest talent in theater around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex here at THE COLUMN Awards.

Just like any organization we have had our growing pains. We've had good times, and not so good times. But that's typical in any group setting with vastly talented individuals that make up the Board of Directors.

We've worked so, so hard each year to bring you - the theater community - the best show we can possibly produce. We put our day jobs, personal lives, even our financial situations on the back burner-and life in general-in total chaos & stress-all to make THE COLUMN Awards a night you will remember and cherish.

We do not do this for us, for glory, for financial reward, or for praise. But for you - our fellow brothers and sisters in theater. The art we all love and work so hard on.

So when this special announcement came to us, it put a lump in our throats and swell of pride in our hearts.

It is with much great honor to announce that the Mayor of Dallas, Mr. Tom Leppert and the Dallas City Council has signed and declared that March 23, 2009 (the day of THE COLUMN AWARDS) is …THE COLUMN AWARD DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

As Executive Director/Producer/Founder of this organization, never ever in my wildest dreams would I think this would happen. Wow. An entire day here in the Dallas Texas, one of the biggest cities in America will be known as THE COLUMN AWARDS DAY.

The Board of Directors each had a major, major role in making this happen. Their hard work and wonderful dedication helped in taking us where we are today. So if you see a Board member, congratulate them on their honor!

To view the proclamation, see on our official website at: www.thecolumnonline.com.

This is indeed a truly beautiful, exciting, and heart tugging moment in the lives of my Board of Directors and I.

So on Monday March 23, join the citizens of Dallas Texas as we honor COLUMN AWARDS DAY as proclaimed by the Mayor of Dallas and the Dallas City Council!

THE COLUMN Awards celebrates and honors excellence in theater within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The organization honors both equity and non-equity productions. This year marks their 10th Anniversary. THE COLUMN Awards is the only theater awards organization in the DFW metroplex that honors & awards the outstanding talent within the DFW theater community.
