North Texans blaming Mexican bricks for crumbling homes

They took our jobs!

Theytukarjebs!

You see, the problem is that them Mex-i-can bricks came over the border over there and took the jobs of hardworking Amurrican bricks.

And now the bricks in homes across North Texas are crumbling because the Mexican bricks weren't designed for extreme weather. As part of a loophole in the law, bricks rated for moderate weather were used for building during the housing boom of twenty-aught-four. Lawmakers are looking to modify the law so that homes in the area can only be built with extreme weather bricks.

I've witnessed high-quality home building recently. I don't think brick is the only thing a home owner has to worry about.

This was a huge issue back in the late 70's-early 80's. Public Memory Is Short.

I'm with Rick - I think the bricks are the least of people's worries when it comes to cheap imports and whatnot in the post boom cleanup.

Contractors knew the quality of slop they were propping up. Time to pay the piper.

ScoDo - good point. You whippersnappers think a whole TV season is an eternity.

But seriously - the "established builders" in the region knew this song already. Playing surprised won't cut it.

Heck Acme Brick had a campaign about it no less than 5 years ago. Sure it was seen as protectionist fearmongering.... um.... kay... by the same NAFTA yoyoes that will soon ask taxpayers to foot the bill to fix it.

Chris Kidd, says:

Mexican't Bricks and bad builders are both to blame in this situation. Not to mention a govermental structure that doesnt require builders to truly honor their work. Another reason to throw Guv'na Goodhair out of office next year.
