The cold weather is finally behind us (there, we’re declaring it officially). So even if the temp drops below 40 again, we’re going to pretend it’s not real and whip out our Tommy Bahama shirts, cargo shorts and Grecian sandals. And if that doesn’t scare away the freezing temperatures, nothing will. This week, as we sifted through hundreds of options for a little warm-weather fun, we found that our favorites mostly fell on the same day. With the exception of one event next Tuesday, it’s going to take every time management skill in your arsenal to decide what to do this Saturday. The other days, you’re on your own.
Project Runway: The Lunch Challenge - Fashion Dish Trunk Show at W Dallas-Victory
Saturday, March 21, 11:00 a.m.
Couldn’t make it to New York Fashion Week this year? Don’t fret. We’ve got you a better seat to a high-end fashion event, but best of all, this one includes lunch at Craft and Grey Goose cocktails. Get a sneak peak at designers’ latest creations and meet fashion designer YEOHLEE in person. A percentage of lunch and trunk show sales will be donated to Two by Two for AIDS and Art. Just make sure to dress nicely—people will be judging you.
Tickets: $45, Craft Restaurant at W Dallas-Victory, Dallas, www.whotels.com/dallasfashiondish
Beware The Well Ness Monster! Eco-Wellness Fair in Uptown
Saturday, March 21, 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Eliminate a little bit of your non-green guilt by checking out the wares at this Eco-Wellness Fair. Find everything from clothing and jewelry to eco-friendly pet products. Learn about massage and get a psychic reading while you’re at it. In fact, stop and see the psychic first so she can tell you what you’re going to buy before you buy it. That’ll leave you a lot more time for other afternoon adventures. Proceeds benefit La Reunion TX.

Harnesses And Chaps For Dummies: Workshop for Leather Boys
Saturday, March 21, 4:30 p.m.
If you’re not a part of the leather scene, you probably have lots and lots of questions. And now’s your chance to get plenty of answers and a chance to explore one of Dallas’ hidden treasures, Leather Masters in Deep Ellum. Mr. Leather 2005 will be on hand to give you the ins and outs of the leather world. And unlike our 3rd grade teacher’s discipline device of choice, we actually might want to have a round or two with Mr. Leather’s paddle.

The Fine Art Of Looking Good Holding A Wine Glass: Artists Reception at HCG Gallery
Saturday, March 21, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
After all that leather-learnin’ you’ve just experienced, cleanse your palate with a little fine art and wine. “Compositions, Marks and Arrangements” by Floyd Newsum will be unveiled for the first time at the HCG Gallery. Meet the artist and enjoy a little wine and tiny nibblies while enjoying this artist’s great works.

Nice Trophy, Cupcake: Battle of the Bakers
Tuesday, March 24, 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
What better way to spend an otherwise boring weeknight than by feasting on baked treats from some of Dallas’ top bakers while enjoying complimentary champagne and wine? It all takes place on The Beat’s second floor patio that overlooks the downtown Dallas skyline. Not only will the bakers be competing for the coveted People’s Choice Award, but co-sponsor Dallas Furniture Bank will be on hand to honor their “40 Under 40,” a group of 40 individuals recognized for their civic efforts. The list is a who’s who of Dallas’ young and talented, including our very own Cooper Smith, publisher of Gay List Daily (does that get us a raise, Mr. Smith?).
Tickets $40 - $75, The Beat Condominiums, Dallas, www.dallasfurniturebank.org
