Quincy Jones holds book signing at Dallas Barnes and Noble
It's a rare treat when a legend pays a visit to Dallas, much less for the purpose of fan interaction. Celebrity book signings usually involve someone from the Food Network, a semi-well known politician or your occasional sports star. Tuesday, however, Dallas saw a legend indeed. Musician, impresario and record producer Quincy Jones held a book signing at Barnes and Noble in Dallas. Jones was promoting his new book "The Complete Quincy Jones: My Journey, My Passions: Photos and Mementos from Q's Personal Collection." The book includes personal interviews, photographs and other private memorabilia providing a window into Jones' history and creative process.
Anyone who has never even heard the name Quincy Jones (if that's possible) knows his work in some capacity. From his early career as a jazz musician, to producing Michael Jackson's Thriller album, to arranging the theme for the Cosby show, Quincy Jones has done it all. The scene looked like a madhouse but the folks at Barnes and Noble had everybody organized (more or less) as hundreds of fans (young and old) waited patiently, books in hand, for Jones to start the signing process. Unfortunately, Jones was running late and had to cancel the originally scheduled Q&A and get straight to book signing so he wouldn't miss his next flight. This disappointing news did not, however, tarnish the spirit of the crowd; everybody was happy just to see him.
