Aggravated assault in Grand Prairie results in two arrests

1

A pair of Arlington men have been arrested after witnesses say they opened fire on residents of the Clayton Mark Apartments in Grand Prairie.

The incident began about 3:20 a.m., March 19, when a Grand Prairie Police Officer said he heard gunshots in the 500 block of SW 23rd St. Responding to the gunfire, the officer saw a white, two-door Toyota exit the apartments and speed away.

Grand Prairie Police followed the car for about 10 minutes until the driver and passenger bailed out and fled on foot in Arlington. The passenger, Julian Suggs, 25, of Arlington, was arrested at Gossett and Plaza. The driver, Antonio Smith, also 25, of Arlington, was arrested after fleeing into a residence in the 2700 block of Buena Vista in that city.

Witnesses told police the two suspects drove up and began shooting. Two vehicles, one occupied with two people, were struck with bullets. No one was injured. Smith faces charges of felony fleeing in a vehicle and aggravated assault. Suggs will be charged with misdemeanor fleeing (on foot) and aggravated assault. Neither of the men had been arraigned at the time of this report nor has any bond been set.

No weapon was found with the two men.
