FC Dallas unveils 2009 broadcast schedule

FC Dallas recently unveiled the team’s local television and radio broadcast schedule for the 2009 Major League Soccer season, which features 28 of the team’s 30 regular season games available on television. The team also announced that all 30 regular season games will once again air live on Spanish language radio. FSN SW will kick off the television coverage on Saturday, March 21 when FC Dallas takes on the Chicago Fire at Pizza Hut Park (live at 7:30 p.m. CT).

KFWD-52 and FSN SW, combining to air 22 matches, will join national partners ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel and TeleFutura to televise 28 total regular season games. The two remaining games will air on the MLS Direct Kick satellite / cable package. Local Spanish language radio partner KZMP 1540 AM La Ranchera will air 27 regular season games, and combines with national radio partner ESPN Deportes Radio (1480 AM), which will exclusively air the team’s three ESPN2 telecast dates. Additionally, the kickoff time for the April 11 game at Toronto FC (live on KFWD-52) has been moved to 3 p.m. CT.

NOTES ON LOCAL BROADCAST SCHEDULE:

  • KFWD-52 will air 17 games, and FSN Southwest will air five games.
  • KFWD-52 will broadcast seven home games and 10 road games.
  • FSN Southwest will televise four home games and one road game.
  • Brad Sham and Dave Dir will return to the FC Dallas television broadcast team. In addition, the retired 10-year FCD veteran Bobby Rhine will also join the broadcast crew.
  • Veteran announcer Carlos Alvarado, who has been the play-by-play Spanish voice of the team for each of the first 13 seasons, returns to call games on KZMP 1540 AM La Ranchera. Each broadcast will include a 30-minute pre and post game show.
  • Alvarado will also continue to host a weekly show on KZMP La Ranchera every Thursday from 7-8 pm CT, covering FC Dallas, Major League Soccer, and other soccer-related news and updates from around the world.
  • Ten of FC Dallas' 30 regular season games will be available on national TV.
  • 4 games on TeleFutura on Sunday afternoons (all televised in English on KFWD-52).
  • 3 games on ESPN2 (most games offered in high definition) which will also be simulcast on ESPN360 and ESPN Deportes.
  • 3 games on Fox Soccer Channel / Fox Sports en Español: "MLS Saturday on FSC" slot.
  • Three of FC Dallas’ regular season games will be available nationally via ESPN Deportes Radio (1480 AM in Dallas).
