City of Arlington to offer free landscaping design classes in April

The classes will emphasize water efficiency and will be held at the Southwest Library Branch.

The City of Arlington Water Utilities Department is sponsoring a series of three free lectures in April designed to offer esearch-proven techniques which provide maximum gardening and landscape enjoyment while preserving water and protecting our environment.

Focus on Bloom and Texture

The classes will each be held at the Southwest Library Branch at 3311 SW Green Oaks Blvd., and those wishing to attend are encouraged to contact Dustan Compton at 817-459-6628 (or email dustan.compton@arlingtontx.gov) so that a place can be reserved.

Earth-Kind Landscaping Principles

The first class takes place on April 1 (from 6 - 8 p.m.), and will feature Steve Chaney of Texas AgriLife Extension. Steve will speak on the subject of Earth-kind landscaping principles.

Next up (on April 8, from 6 - 8 p.m.) is Randy Weston, owner of Weston Gardens, who will focus on bloom and texture across the seasons through the use of perennials and ornamental grasses.

And finally, on April 18 (from 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.), Dotty Woodson of Texas AgriLife Extension will return to the topic of Earth-kind landscaping principles.
