University of North Texas opens The Rocky Horror Show this weekend

0

From March 27 - April 5, UNT's Department of Dance and Theatre is bringing the cult favorite, The Rocky Horror Show to their stage. Brad & Janet are two sexually confused middle class American kids who seek aide after having tire trouble on the way to visit an old college professor. They find help at Frankenstein Manor where they are confronted by the mad ‘doctor’ Frank N. Furter from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania. With the doctor’s decedent morality, his servants Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia he has created an experiment, the perfect man christened Rocky Horror. Adrift in this world of science fiction, one never knows what to expect. The Rocky Horror Show is an outrageous classic of stereotyped science fiction movies, Marvel comics, Frankie Avalon/Annette Funicello outings, and rock ‘n’ roll of every vintage.

UNT’s production of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show is guest-directed by Bob Hess. Both onstage and on camera, he has worked extensively as both an actor and director in the Metroplex for the past 28 years, appearing and/or directing on the stages of Contemporary Theatre of Dallas (where he last staged Rocky Horror Show), Lyric Stage, Dallas Theater Center, Dallas Children’s Theater, WaterTower Theatre, Kitchen Dog Theatre, Uptown Players, Casa Manana, Theatre Three, Echo Theatre, Stage West, Second Thought Theatre, Theatre Arlington, and Granbury Opera House.
