See all art events
During the week, you can catch a free lecture on Wednesday at the DMA by Ajmal Maiwandi, Deputy Programme Manager for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, discusses the restoration of some of Afghanistan’s most important historic sites. On Thursday, the Latino Cultural Center is opening Dichos, an exhibit that documents the phenomenon of inscribing dichos (sayings or amusing expressions) on vehicles.
If you're looking for some cool art on Friday, check out the Birds vs. Skulls exhibit at Kettle Art in Deep Ellum. It's a group show consisting of the most prevalent images that consistantly grace the Kettle walls. The Public Trust in the same area also has a great show featuring original works and prints by Charley Harper.
On Saturday, the FWADA Spring Gallery Walk is going on at participating galleries and museums (don't forget the museums) across Fort Worth. Check the gallery schedules for specific events. If you're looking to stay in Big D, Holly Johnson Gallery is opening David Maisel's Black Maps, consisting of large-scaled photographs of environmentally impacted landscapes. Conduit is also opening a show for Susan Kae Grant, Paul Greenburg, and Kate Rivers in the Project Room.
Marty Walker Gallery is opening a show featuring works by Frances Bagley and Matthew Porter. Bagley's mixed media sculpture addresses aspects of the body and perceptions of absence and presence.
