UPDATED: Chef Tim Love opening Love Burger Shack in Fort Worth’s SoSeven development
Menu will be expanded to include party-style appetizers and mixed drinks.
FORT WORTH Fort Worth chef Tim Love is opening a second branch of his Love Burger Shack at the SoSeven mixed-use development in Fort Worth.
"We just broke ground, so I can't say exactly when it will be open," Love says. "The complex is still only 3/4 completed, but I think they plan to start pre-leasing the rental portion of condos pretty soon."
He's happy to be in this complex as opposed to Dallas' ill-fated Victory Park development where he was originally going to open a second branch, and then changed his mind.
"I don't want to say anything bad about anyone, but I feel like I made a good decision," he says.
At SoSeven, Glen Arthur, a clothing designer, has already opened, and Love feels confident about the prospects there since the complex includes a Marriott Hotel.
"Our location is right across from the hotel, so our goal is to become the hotel bar," he says. "This Love Shack will have cocktails. Our milkshake menu will have adult and kid versions -- you got all these flavored liqueurs right now, might as well try to use them."
There'll be a stage for live music, and they're also expanding menu slightly.
"We're adding party appetizers that can be served on butcher paper -- it's anything that can be served on butcher paper," he says.
UPDATE: Here's the release, with opening date slated for July 31 (which is only the second-most-popular date for restaurant openings since July 15):
Chef Tim Love is pleased to announce that he will soon be opening a second location of his award-winning burger and live music destination – The Love Shack So7. Scheduled to open to the public on July 31, 2009 in the new So7 development in Fort Worth’s Seventh St. Corridor, this new Love Shack will feature all the classics that have made the original Love Shack such a success, with a few new twists from Fort Worth’s favorite celebrity chef.
The 130-seat, Love Shack So7 features 1500 square feet of indoor and 2900 square feet of outdoor seating complete with live music stage and lounge area, making it perfect both for parties or a quick bite. In addition to classic favorites like the Love Burger and the celebrated Dirty Love Burger, the menu features hot dogs, house-made sausages, chicken-apple bratwurst and hand-cut fries and onion rings. New offerings include The Love Bird (Chef Love’s take on a classic grilled chicken sandwich), a Classic Lobster Roll with Old Bay Potato Chips, and a Fresh Fish “Burger” on a Whole Wheat Bun.
The Love Shack So7 will also feature a selection of salads, including a fresh twist on a traditional Caesar, and a Salad of the Day, with choices such as Shrimp and Cannelini Bean, or Kale with Cherry Tomato and Bacon Dressing. A variety of regularly changing, party-style appetizers, including boiled crawfish or wild boar bacon-wrapped figs, and will all be served on traditional butcher paper. In order to satisfy So7 residents and guests from all across Texas, each Sunday The Love Burger Shack will serve a family-style brunch that will include a choice of six different items – one egg dish, one meat, two vegetables, one salad, and one dessert or breakfast pastry.
As at the original location, the So7 Shack pours their own special blends of root beer and orange soda and offers a wide selection of beer and wine. New to this location is a full-fledged cocktail bar, where Chef Love offers seasonal and classic cocktails, such as his Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita. To make it even more family-friendly, the cocktail list will have an adult version and a child-friendly version – non-alcoholic options of all 15 cocktails on the list, and to make it even sweeter, The Love Shack’s famous happy hour will be daily, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In addition, The Love Shack will still serve up its daily milkshake special, with flavors such as Chocolate Mint, Heath Bar Crunch, Strawberry, and Mocha. A quick and easy to-go window will make take-out even easier
Some of the new Love Shack’s other family-friendly features include a specially-designed hopscotch court for the kids, a weekly Kids Karaoke, during which kids can perform their favorite hits and enjoy a full meal and dessert for just $10, and an endless supply of chalk will be available for kids to draw everywhere, including the floors, walls and even on the tables. For the competitive types, there’s even a beanbag toss on the outdoor patio. Chef Love designed the new Love Shack in conjunction with renowned design firm Johnson and Seitz Co.; construction was managed by Hayden Construction.
The Love Shack So7 joins Tim Love’s other Fort Worth establishments – The Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, The White Elephant Saloon and the original Love Shack – as a fun and freewheeling restaurant in the cowboy tradition. The new Love Shack So7 is located at 817 Matisse, Suite 445, Fort Worth 76107 and can be reached via telephone at 817-348-9655 or 817-348-9607. Hours are 11 a.m.-midnight, Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.–2 a.m., Friday-Saturday; and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday. Visit the Love Shack online at its new website.
