Family Outreach Dallas to hold Feet Forward for Families

Family Outreach Dallas is hosting its third annual Feet Forward For Families event on Saturday, April 4. This event will be held at Winfrey Point, in conjunction with the Dallas Running Club's April 5 Mile club race.

Family Outreach Dallas, a 501(c)3 organization, celebrating its 20th anniversary, is dedicated to educating and strengthening families by providing parenting education and tools to break the intergenerational cycle of child abuse and neglect.

The race, which starts at 8 a.m. and will be staggered by age group, will take runners along the scenic White Rock Lake in Dallas, starting and finishing at Winfrey Point. In addition to the DRC Best of Times Age-Handicapped 5 Mile Run/Walk at 8:00 AM walk/run event, there will be a Kids' 1K race and a Family Fun Fest targeting families with children up to 12 years old.

Online registration for both the 5-mile race and the Kids' 1K run is available at www.getmeregistered.com through March 31. The $25 registration fee includes the timed 5-mile race, post-race breakfast, and a Family Outreach Center 20th Anniversary commemorative T-shirt. The $10 registration for the Kids' 1K run also includes breakfast and a commemorative T-shirt. Bibs and T-shirts can be picked up on race day at the Family Outreach Dallas table in front of the building at Winfrey Point. Race day registration opens at 7 a.m. and cuts off at 7:45. All profits will be used by Family Outreach Dallas to fund its community education classes in teen and adult parenting and in-home mentoring.

Family Fun Fest activities will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and will include a make a hat craft, ring toss, a bean bag toss, a bunny hop, Easter-themed rub-on tattoos, macaroni necklaces, arts and crafts and more. There also will be appearances by the Dallas Fire Department, Dallas Police Department, therapy dogs from Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs and the Easter Bunny! Photos by Destiny Photos taken with the Easter Bunny will be available for purchase at the event. These activities are open to all children with their families, but RSVPs (214-321-6292) would be appreciated. Snacks for children are being donated by Whole Foods at Lakewood.
