La Reunion Town Center development in Dallas’ Oak Cliff to have groundbreaking on Thursday

— Mayor Tom Leppert and Councilmember Dave Neumann (District 3) will join Fairways at La Reunion, LLC and community guests to break ground on the much anticipated La Reunion Town Center development on Thursday March 26 at 9 a.m.

The groundbreaking for this Oak Cliff development puts the first phase of the mixed-use project in motion. The development will replace the old Colorado Place apartments near Hampton Road which were built in the 1940’s. Once the project is completed it will consist of a variety of residential units, shops and commercial space.

Phase one includes an almost 200-unit seniors’ residential community called “The Fairways” and include renovations of two existing buildings. The second phase of the development is called “The Orleans” which will contain 220 apartments and 37,000 square feet of shopping space.

“Once this development is completed it will be a landmark destination to shop, live, work and play in the Oak Cliff community and it will support future growth and vitality in District 3,” said Neumann. “This new mixed-used development for Fort Worth Avenue is the first of a series of planned multi-phase projects in the area to go vertical and one of the early success stories in Council’s effort to encourage development in southern Dallas.”

This is in my inlaws backyard (as they live in stevens park). Im glad Ft. Worth Ave is finally getting the love and attention it deserves. Hopefully it becomes our version of South Congress Ave, all we need is some cool, funky little stores over there..
