Taste of Duncanville a savory temptation

Hundreds of local residents gathered at Duncanville High School to savor the tastes.

The Duncanville Chamber of Commerce hosted the sixth annual Taste of Duncanville and Community Spotlight March 19.

“This is my first time attending and so far I'm enjoying myself,” 35-year Duncanville resident Charlotte Walker said.

More than 80 exhibitors, many from Duncanville, Cedar Hill and Arlington, came to showcase their businesses, including Sterling Bank, Sheridan's Frozen Custard and McCoy's Photography.

Each business set up booths along the hallways of DHS and welcomed event-goers with smiles, food and door prizes as they promoted their business.

Stylists from Orchid Salon provided complimentary makeovers while other businesses gave out door prizes and food.

According to event organizer Carmen Partlow, with only an hour remaining, the number of people in attendance exceeded the total number of attendees during last year's event and more people were expected.

“Not only is this an opportunity for exhibitors to market,” Partlow said, “but also a great opportunity for the family to get out and enjoy the community.”

The infamous Chick-fil-A mascot arrived to meet and greet everyone while Duncanville's own Recycle Man and Mother Nature spread joy and the good news of a beautiful Duncanville.

The evening closed as winners of the silent auction claimed their prizes, with one lucky winner receiving a free Chick-fil-A breakfast for an entire year.
