Man dies in Dallas house fire after apparently attempting to escape through a window equipped with burglar bars
Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to a 1-alarm fire early Sunday morning (March 9) in the 2800 block of Britton to find that one man had perished in the wood framed house.
Three of the four people thought to be inside the house were eventually accounted for; after the blaze was extinguished, a fourth man - whose name has not been released - was found dead, and it appears he had been trying to escape through a window that was unfortunately equipped with burglar bars.
Several details of the incident have led to its ongoing investigation by Fire Department officials, including the fact that utilities to the house had been disconnected, seemingly ruling out electrical or gas line causes. The deceased resident had no visible burn marks on his body; his cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
