NBA fines Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban for twittering
DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban got fined $25,000 by the NBA on Sunday after he sent out a twitter criticizing the referees of Friday night's game.

"Twittering" will be dead in a month or two! I think. It is just an added "busy-body" thing that we just don't need, we are already too, too, tooooooooo busy with our personal cell phones, blackberry's, e-mails, laptops, facebooks, myspaces, beepers, meetings, lunches and more. I still like to shake a hand and look someone in the eye!

Russ, clearly you have no sense of people's curiosity in the goings-on of other people. Twitter will be around far longer than it deserves, I'm afraid.
Apparently they're <a href="http://www.reuters.com/article/technologyNews/idUSTRE52P0BP20090326">selling out to the man</a> soon. Wonder if they label said clientele "twits". =p

I like this comment Scott. You make a good point. Human curiosity will keep twitter alive and going. But just how many things/devices do we need to communicate with,... on a daily basis? I still love eye contact and a handshake.

Russ, I agree that eye contact / handshake is ideal, but I find myself much more in touch with friends and colleagues from out of town because of Twitter. I'd never have time to email them every day, but I get just enough in blips to keep the thread of the story. That's why I like it.

Nina, I'm guessing that since Cuban's online activity is so well-known, there's probably somebody at the NBA offices who regularly checks on what he's writing. Even if there isn't, <a href="http://twitter.com/mcuban">over 14,000 people follow Cuban's Twitter feed</a> - nothing stays private for long amongst that many people.
