Dozens of North Texas animal groups to participate in May 9 Pet Adoptathon

Community event promotes animal shelters as the best place to adopt pets.

More than 35 area animal shelters, humane societies and rescue groups will come together at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday, May 9, for the Tail-Gate ‘09 Pet Adoptathon, a community event designed to promote animal-welfare organizations as “THE place” to find happy, healthy dogs and cats available for adoption.

The Adoptathon is an annual event sponsored by the Texas Animal Shelter Coalition (TASC) and coincides with National Be Kind to Animals Week. It will take place in Parking Lot E, directly across from the Ballpark, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

Among the shelters and rescue groups that will have adoptable animals at the Pet Adoptathon are Alley Cat Angels of Texas, Chris’ Rescue Angels, Arlington Animal Services, Lewisville Animal Services, Dallas Animal Services, Dalmatian Rescue of Texas, DFW Humane Society, DFW Tzus and More, Feral Friends, Fort Worth Animal Control, Haltom City Animal Services, Humane Society of North Texas, Irving Animal Services, North Richland Hills Animal Services, Operation Kindness, Richland Hills Animal Services, SPCA of Texas and Tri-City Animal Shelter. Participating vendor and exhibitors include 911 Wildlife, Best Friends Animal Society, Companions for Life, Gifted Animal Placement, LBL Architects and the Tarrant Area Food Bank.
