Stretch of Matilda Avenue in Dallas to receive safety modifications

0

The curved portion of Matilda Avenue between Lewis and Oram Streets has been known as Dead's Man Curve for years. Besides having poor lines of sight as you drive north or south, there have been a few instances where inanimate objects (homes and fences) tend to become airborne when hit by animated objects (cars).

That will soon change, however. At the request of the BelmontNA, the City's Public Works & Transportation Department conducted a safety and traffic engineering study of the street. Today, they informed the association that safety devices will be installed within the next 45 days.

This will include warning signs on both ends of the curve, flashing yellow lights, and a 25 mph speed limit on this portion of the avenue.
