US 75 to close at Parker Road in Plano Friday and Saturday nights

0

— The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will close major portions of U.S. Highway 75 at Parker Road starting at 10 p.m. Friday night and Saturday night. The closures, which will last until 8 a.m. the following morning, are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public and the contractor while beams are hung on the southern half of the new Parker Road bridge.

The closures, which are weather permitting, include:

● Northbound and southbound frontage roads closed 10 p.m. Friday, May 1 to 8 a.m. Saturday, May 2. Traffic will be diverted briefly to the main lanes.

● Northbound and southbound main lanes closed 10 p.m. Saturday, May 2 to 8 a.m. Sunday, May 3. Traffic will be diverted briefly to the frontage roads.

● In addition, Parker Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction both nights.

This work is part of a $20 million construction project to convert the U.S. 75 and Parker Road interchange from a standard, grade-separated bridge to a single-point urban interchange (SPUI). The estimated project completion is fall 2010.
