Dallas-raised filmmaker of Smile Pinki returns to town for local premiere of her Oscar-winning docu-short

Film Screening: "Smile Pinki"

Smile Pinki is a documentary short about two rural kids in India born with cleft lips who journey to a big-city hospital for the simple surgery that will make them whole.

The 39-minute film was produced and directed by Megan Mylan, a filmmaker currently residing in San Francisco. Mylan produced and co-directed Lost Boys of Sudan in 2003. She'll be coming to Dallas (where she graduated from Highland Park High School, and where she maintains family ties) on Thursday, May 21 for the local theatrical premiere of her film at the Angelika Film Center.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a pre-reception, followed by the screening and discussion at 7 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Call 972-450-1028 to reserve a seat.
