The Fairmount in Fort Worth closed
For the last year, The Fairmount in Fort Worth has been a promising neighborhood-friendly music venue, but plagued by debts, has been forced to shut down.
The venue opened in March 2008 as an answer to one group of musicians' woes at the closing of their previously favorite bar, McHenry's. As our intern could attest (we'll not ask exactly how), the music and the drinks flowed fairly healthily.
Then tax, insurance, and TABC costs became too much for the fledgling venue, and in mid-April The Fairmount elected to become BYOB and forego renewing their alcohol license. It was not enough, however, and Sunday's show with Star de Azlan and Paul Eason was reportedly the bar's last. There's no word yet as to what will happen to the rest of the shows already booked.

They will be sorely missed! They sure gave a big effort and it was appreciated! by the listeners AND the local talented musicians!
We'll hope for a return real soon!
