Farina’s Winery adds one more wine drinking option to downtown Grapevine
GRAPEVINE While downtown Grapevine has no shortage of places to get a glass of wine, another one never hurts: Farina's Winery was opened over a year ago by Gary Farina as an extension of the antique shop he had next door.
"We have Italian food, pizzas, lasagna, old-world Italian food, and about 100 types of wine that we sell," he says.
His family opened their first restaurant in 1951, in Irving, and also had a place in Dallas. All of their recipes are old family recipes, says Gary, and their pizza has a thin crust with a rectangular shape. Hmmm, sounds familiar.
"Joe Campisi was a dear friend, he and my father grew up together, he was quite the guy, I tell ya," Gary says.
Meanwhile, it being Grapevine, Farina's is doing what you do in Grapevine.
"We are in process of making our own wine," Gary says. "We haven't released our first vintage but probably will in the next couple of months."
