Audio: Mandrake Society Radio interviews Tiffinni Young and Venton Jones
Happy Cinco De Mayo! This week, I’m driving around on a windy, overcast Sunday afternoon and have plenty of conversations, especially about this upcoming hotel vote in Dallas. I get a chance to speak with City Council candidate for District 5, Tiffinni Young outside of a polling station in Dallas. Tiffinni is a native Dallasite with plans to improve the quality of life for Pleasant Grove. Early voting has passed, so make sure you take the privilege to vote this Saturday, May 9th.
Also, I share some words with Venton Jones who is, among other great things, the president of the new non-profit B/black gay organization, DFW Pride Movement. Venton shares what’s in store for this year’s Dallas B/black gay pride event, which will be October 1 - 4, 2009.
Also featured, poetry by Thomas M. and music by these Dallas artists:
“Blubber with Muppets” by yesitsfiasco, from the project, assorted clips available exclusively (and for now, FREE!) at Gritty Goat.
“What Turns Inside” by Dove Hunter, from the project, The Southern Unknown.
A piano snippet of “Hello Monday” from hip-hop musicians, DSFZ, “Honeydew” by Geno Young, and “Head to the Sky” by Black.Page.
