Concert preview: The Flametrick Subs at the Boiler Room in Denton (May 9)
The Flametrick Subs are a product of the Austin music scene and will be making a stop here in Denton this Saturday night at The Boiler Room. They are like a blend of the Ramones and the B52's, and yes that sounds pretty strange but it actually works, and the product is a one of a kind sound that suits the Austin band well. Imagine the scene in Pulp Fiction when Vincent Vega is walking through Jackrabbit Slim's and the rockabilly music is blaring in the background. Well it is kind of like that, if Vincent Vega had been on acid. Interested enough? Yeah I thought so!
Also playing will be the devilishly named Ghoultown, and one of the best bands I have heard from Oklahoma in a long time called The Gunship. Ghoultown is currently celebrating their centennial anniversary since the formation of their band and will bring a solid texas rock and roll sound to the evening. The Gunship is a band that I will personally be paying attention to in the coming months. They are a relatively young band with a polished sound that should carry them pretty far, so get to the show early!
