Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth May 7-10

Thursday and Friday are a little bit country, while Saturday is a little bit rock n' roll.

Thursday

Considered cult-followed figure in the alternative country movement, and doing it since 1984, Richard Buckner joins one of our own alt-country phenoms, Doug Burr, at Lola's Stockyards. Though some reviews of Buckner's more recent records have been a little critical of his development, the pairing should be a rare treat for those who love the genre and attend...

Friday

...and if you don't live in Fort Worth, best to find someone's couch to crash on Thursday night, because you won't want to miss The Reverend Horton Heat performing with Eleven Hundred Springs at The Aardvark on Friday. According to our calendar, the Rev hasn't played a show in town since October 2008, so best get on out and pay your punkabilly respects to a local legend.

Or not, insolent so-and-so. You could head out for more family friendly fare at Taste Addison in Addison Circle Park. The food-laden, musical exploration starts on Friday with Green River Ordinance, Old 97's, and Jack Ingram. Saturday and Sunday's schedules include performances by Scott McCurry & the Mercenaries, Bowling For Soup, Eleisha Eagle, The Texas Gypsies, and Foreigner, among others.

Korn: still at it.

Korn: still at it.

Saturday

We can tell by the readership that many of you out there are interested in this year's Edgefest 19, headlined by Korn and 311. Props go out to the 102.1 crew for finally posting set times this year, but don't let that dissuade you from showing up early, the local band winner, SaintKarla, opens the day at noon on Stage 2. One might even admit to now-not-secretly liking the Anberlin single, "Feel Good Drag," and might be looking forward to hearing said song played live. Hmmm.

If sharing the day with thousands of your closest sweaty friends isn't on the agenda, you can also catch two of DFW's top acts to see live, The Paper Chase and Astronautalis, at the Granada Theater. Fort Worthians might like The Orbans and the cut*off at Moon Bar.

And while this is a music roundup, we'd be doing you a disservice by not mentioning that comedian Louis CK will be doing his dirty/funny-as-all-hell thing at the Lakewood Theater.

Sunday

Sunday is pretty slow, but if you're not saving your smooches for Katy Perry at the House of Blues on Monday, Randy Jackson and Terry Brock will be at Poor David's Pub, pushed back a day from May 9.
