Theater Spotlight of the Week: Bill Fountain

Interview with Bill Fountain, Director of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest

Bill Fountain and I have spoken before and it was then that we discussed how many projects he has going on at once. Along with his many other endeavors, he is the founder of the theater company, Level Ground Arts, and right now he is also directing One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at ONSTAGE in Bedford opening this weekend.

We delve right into the interview by discussing his attraction to Cuckoo’s Nest and he elaborates on his directorial vision. He makes a distinction between the play, movie, and book and which inspired him most.

He talks about the interesting rehearsal process and what he did to mold the actors. Since it is being performed with ONSTAGE in Bedford, I ask how he thinks the audience will respond to this heavy piece with is being a small theater company. He also mentions the company's place in the large DFW theatre community.

I inquire on what he wants the audience to walk away talking/arguing about.

On another note, he just directed Julius Caesar with his theater company Level Ground Arts and the production traveled all over the metroplex. I ask him about the performance and he reveals their plans for future productions.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest runs from May 8 - 23. Purchase tickets online or by calling 817-644-6444.
