Dallas ISD selects four finalists for 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year
DALLAS The Dallas Independent School District has selected four finalists for the 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year.
A committee of judges selected the semifinalists and finalists based on a number of criteria including the ability to inspire a drive for excellence in a diverse student population; commitment to professional development and contributions to the teaching profession; awareness of current issues in education; level of community involvement; and quality of interactions with parents and peers.
The finalists are:
●Chanika Turner - Richard Lagow Elementary School
●Olga Pacot - William M. Anderson Elementary School
●Karen Puckett - Benjamin Franklin Middle School
●John McCollum - Bryan Adams High School
The Dallas Independent School District’s 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year will be announced at an awards program sponsored by H-E-B Central Market on Thursday, May 21, at 6 p.m., at the Women’s Museum at Fair Park, 3800 Parry Ave.
