UT Dallas taps RiseSmart to offer job search help for EMBA students
With so many of today’s MBA students worried that they won’t be able to find a job when they graduate, some local business schools are getting more proactive in helping students with their job search.
The UT Dallas School of Management has contracted with RiseSmart, a provider of Web-enabled job search and outplacement services, to provide its EMBA students up to six months of assistance via the company’s online job search service.
RiseSmart assigns each student a dedicated HR professional, who uses RiseSmart technology to search job listings online on the student’s behalf, based on each jobseeker’s specific criteria. The students get new job leads to pursue every week.
“To our knowledge, no other MBA program in the country has an offering of this kind,” said Sanjay Sathe, founder and CEO of RiseSmart.
Sathe said the online job search assistance can be a big timesaver for students.
“A Kelton Research survey showed that the majority of online jobseekers spend an average of 50 hours per month searching the Web for jobs,” he said. “This is not the best use of a professional’s time – particularly one who is working full-time while trying to earn an MBA. RiseSmart takes the pressure off by managing your online job search for you.”
Dr. David Springate, interim director of UT Dallas’s EMBA program, said the new service is an important addition to the business school’s offerings.
“We encourage our EMBA students to actively manage their careers. Each student is paired with a personal executive coach who helps the student develop a career plan appropriate to the student’s skills, interests and personal goals,” Springate said.
“RiseSmart’s service is an important addition to our Career Center’s offerings – particularly during difficult economic times, when students are concerned about the job market.”
