Dallas City Planning Commission recommends two-year SUP for Trees reopening
According to this post in the Dallas Observer, the potential reopening of Trees is not just hearsay and rumor anymore, but a likely event. Clint Barlow, who worked with the now defunct FireWater in Dallas, reports that he's gotten nothing but green lights in his campaign to reopen the historic Deep Ellum live music joint.
Barlow met with the City Plan commission on Thursday and they unanimously decided to recommend to the Dallas City Council that he receive a two-year SUP. Now it's just up to the city council to vote the project in and Barlow can then get all the other paperwork squared away and begin construction.

This is definate good news for my neighborhood. All I ask is he bring in decent bands, not cover or greatest hits acts like he did at firewater...

I don't think he owned Fire Water, just did most of the booking.

What would be the capacity of Trees? I am looking for a venue to bring back the band ZEBRA to Dallas. They have not been here since the Hard Rock Cafe concert in 2003.

Zebra is awesome. Trees would be a great venue for that band. Dallas' music scene would prosper if bands of Zebra's ilk would cruise through on a regular basis. My son's band played Trees several times opening for national acts. It will hold a couple hundred people. Good times!
