Dallas voters approve of city-run convention hotel by small margin
DALLAS Dallas voted yes -- well, they voted no, but this is Dallas, so no meant yes -- to taxpayers' financing a city-run convention center hotel. Dave Levinthal does a nice summary of the Proposition 1 loss, in which a narrow margin of voters said they did not want to block the construction of a $500-million facility for which the city will financially accountable.
Proposition 2 -- another preventive measure that would've kept City Hall from granting subsidies to private developers without conducting a citywide referendum -- failed.

I am betting that in 7-9 years, that hotel will stand empty.

Hopefully in -9 years downtown will be revitalized and there will be good reason for the hotel to be full of conventioneers.
