Rowlett launches economic stimulus program
ROWLETT In these tough economic times, the City of Rowlett recognizes the difficulties residents and businesses may be going through and as a result, has created a local stimulus program designed to help. This program includes three major areas of assistance to residents and local businesses: Shopping here, working here and doing business here.
“We realize that we cannot ease the pain of the economic downturn altogether, but we can certainly do our part in making it less painful for Rowlett residents and businesses,” said Mayor John Harper.
“This stimulus program offers some unique marketing opportunities that will encourage shoppers to ‘Shop Rowlett’, assist residents in finding employment, and encourage our corporate citizens to do more business with the City of Rowlett.”
The details of the program are as follows:
Encourage Local Shopping
The City has launched a “Shop Rowlett” campaign. This program partners with local businesses to offer discount coupons to those who choose to shop in Rowlett. The City will post discount coupons from local retailers and service providers on the City web site at no charge. These coupons can be downloaded and printed out for people to present to the business at the point of purchase. This component of the program is designed to encourage residents to keep their shopping money in Rowlett.
Provide Employment Links & Information
The City has posted a “Work Rowlett” employment opportunity page on its web site to assist residents in finding employment. Local businesses are encouraged to post a link to their employment web sites as well to help keep jobs filled in Rowlett.
Promote Doing Business with the City
Each year the City spends millions of dollars with vendors for supplies and services, so we have posted a “Doing Business In Rowlett” page on the web site to encourage Rowlett businesses to register as a vendor with the City of Rowlett. We want them to be the first to know about those opportunities as a vendor. Local businesses are being encouraged to fill out vendor applications with the City of Rowlett so that they will be included on all bidding opportunities. Keeping those dollars in Rowlett is important!
Marketing Opportunities
Businesses are also encouraged on the “Play Rowlett” page to participate as sponsors of the Downtown Special Event Series to leverage even more exposure. This stimulus program is beingheavily publicized in all City publications, on the City’s web site, on the City’s cable access TV Channel RTN16 and in all of the City’s electronic newsletters and email subscription services.
Business owners and managers in Rowlett are encouraged to take full advantage of this widespread marketing opportunity at no charge to help encourage shopping, business and jobs to stay in Rowlett.
The City of Rowlett sincerely wants to help all residents and local businesses weather these rough economic times through this local stimulus program. To submit a coupon, find a job, register as a vendor for the City of Rowlett, or sponsor a special event, contact Donna Huerta in the Communications Department at 972-463-3954 or email dhuerta@rowlett.com for more information.
