Coppell City Council honors outgoing mayor Stover, welcomes new mayor Peters
When the Coppell City Council meets in regular session on Tuesday evening (May 12), their first item of business will be totally un-business-related.
That's because Mayor Doug Stover will be stepping down from his 11+ years of public service to the City of Coppell. Council members will hold a reception for the outgoing mayor from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the atrium at Town Center (a.k.a. City Hall), following which the civic leaders will get down to new business by swearing in the new mayor, former Place 2 council member Jayne Peters, along with the other newly-elected councilfolk (for Places 2, 4 & 6).
Next comes consideration of a proclamation naming May 2009 as Older Americans Month, followed by citizen appearances.
Consent agenda items to be - ah - consented upon include:
* amendments to city ordinance covering the Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan
* amendment to a zoning ordinance allowing for relocation of a big ol' six car garage and storage area on 21 acres of property at 1717 Belt Line Rd.
* approval of an ordinance to allow a 560 sq. ft. cover to be erected over the outdoor patio area at Fat Daddy's Burger House (215 S. Denton Tap Rd.)
New items up for consideration:
* whether to approve a big of $318,960 for reinforced concrete pavement repairs, submitted by Procon Paving and Construction
* whether to allow a zoning change request which would give Verizon Wireless the O.K. to relocate existing equipment in a 120 sq. ft. shelter approx. 15 ft. west of its current location, on the south side of Fritz Rd. about 1260 ft. west of Freeport Pkwy.
* whether to approve an zoning change ordinance that would clear the way for the Chateaus of Coppell (SW corner of Denton Tap and Bethel) to finish out 10 of the 56 single-family homes therein with true stucco exteriors (limited to earth-tone colors), such that no two stucco homes shall be spaced closer than every third lot
