Fort Worth ISD likely to pay all employees for time missed during flu hysteria

Fort Worth ISD trustees will be asking the state for a waiver so that A) students and employees don't have to make up time missed while the district was closed down for flu hysteria, and B) employees can still get paid during that time. Texas requires that school employees work 187 days a year, but state officials are in favor of granting a waiver in this situation.

The Texas Association of School Boards, however, did advise trustees that they are not obligated to pay nonexempt employees, which would include custodians and cafeteria workers. The district has indicated that it will pay them anyway.
