Dallas’ 48 Hour Film Project offers “Boot Camp” orientation session
If you're thinking about participating in this whirlwind filmmaking event, here's a chance to learn from people who've already done it.

As noted, the Dallas part of the 2009 48 Hour Film Project (the 3rd annual such event) is set to kick off on June 26.
If you're even halfway thinking about participating in this year's competition, the local organizers are providing an opportunity to benefit from the experiences of past years' participants. They're calling this pre-event series of get-togethers "boot camps," and they're free and open to all interested parties.
For the May meeting, participants will hear from Joaquin Chacon and his team from B.T.F. (Beyond The Freedom) about their 2008 winning selection "Spin Cycle". They will talk about what they looked for in putting a team together, what went according to plan, what unexpected challenges arose and how the winning film has affected them personally and professionally.
The meeting will take place on the evening of Wednesday, May 13, with networking and an informal gab session beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the formal discussion set to start at 7 p.m. The event will be held at 2528 ELM (located, conveniently enough, at 2528 Elm St.); ample parking should be available on the meters along Elm St., and there's a city parking lot behind the building which connects Elm and Main.
