More groovy stuff
It's a big weekend here in Big D. We know that sometimes it's hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Here's our attempt at bringing you a sampling of the biggest, the best and the under the radar:
Thursday
- Taste vintages from Landmark Winery at Cork.
- Party and pamper for a good cause at the Crescent.
- Can't complain you're not getting your money's worth when a hip-hop bill includes 17 acts.
- Yeah, Bob Schneider plays here like 17 times a month, but I'm giving it a nod because of the venue: poolside at The Belmont.
Friday
- There's local and national musical goodness at Richardson's Wildflower Festival (all weekend).
- If you didn't get your wine fill on Thursday, Pappas Brothers is reaching deep into its wine library for a special tasting.
- James Taylor is at the Music Hall at Fair Park.
- Calhoun plays its final show at The Aardvark.
- Late Night at the DMA is the beginning of the ending weekend for old King Tut.
Saturday
- It's Money that matters. The Dallas Institute of Humanities and culture helps you understand why.
- This one sounds cool: The Pork Pie Blues Festival, featuring Andrew Jr. Boy Jones and Kenny and the Casuals as well as food, antique furniture, dog stuff and, obviously, hats.
- FC Dallas takes on Seattle and you can get free Drew Carey glasses. Pay attention at halftime, as we'll have an announcement that can win you a trip and get you some discounted gear.
- We've done a lot of coverage on our local Etsy handmade goods community -- they have their first annual Spring event at SouthSide on Lamar.
- Pretend you're at the Preakness Stakes at Lone Star Park.
- It's the premiere of the Trinity River Whalers new CD and the end of the Tip.
Sunday
- Fair Park goes to the dogs at the Dog Bowl.
- Fight hunger (yours and others) at Taste of the Nation Dallas.
- Check out Dragon Boats, kites and lanterns on Lake Carolyn.
- The British Emporium shows off British (duh) cars and motorcycles.
- Another massive hip-hop show at Opening Bell Mosaic.
