Live music events in Dallas-Fort Worth May 14-17
Blues, bluegrass, dance pop, Toadies. This weekend has it all.

Thursday
Experience the blues as played by up-and-coming prodigy Marquise Knox at Pearl at Commerce. Blue Shoe Project co-founder Mike Dyson says of Knox, "He’s way ahead of his age to be playing this stuff... Blues is where Marquise really shines. We look at him and say, this is the future, right here."
Friday
The show to see on Friday is Fischerspooner at the Granada Theater. A recent interview with the Washington Post's Express edition indicates that not only will the dance pop rhythms catch you, but the onstage drama will make you "go home feeling like you've seen avant-garde theater." Casey Spooner was in an experimental rendition of Hamlet for two years and said that he and fellow bandmate Warren Fischer were planning on incorporating some aspects of the production into their set. Fischerspooner is touring in support of Entertainment, released on May 5.
Saturday
You could have gone to the Wildflower Festival on Friday, but if you only get to go once, why not when you can make an entire day out of it. On Saturday, not only can you check out Kansas (come on, when was the last time you saw Kansas?), but you'll get a band that's even bigger around these parts: The Toadies. We hear people like them. Why the heck not? Hell, go on Sunday, too, if you feel the need.
Of course, if not, then try City Tavern and catch a great local bluegrass, roots, and one part eastern European folk with the Whiskey Folk Ramblers, A.M. Ramblers, and Sam Anderson and the Thrift Store Troubadours.

Sunday
Oh, so you're one of those delinquents that leaves the house on Sunday, are ya? Well, if you missed Kenny Chesney earlier this month because of the monsoon, he's back at Pizza Hut Park, free for anyone who bought tickets AND for people who snatch up the unclaimed tickets. Or check out a whole slew of regional rap and hip-hop at Opening Bell Coffee Mosaic starting at 6:15 p.m.
See something we missed? Let us know in the comments. Don't forget to check out the daily Peg Picks for more event suggestions from Pegasus News staffers.

Very much looking forward to Badfish and Toadies back-to-back on same stage. Never seen Badfish, but I can only hope such a decent spot on the bill means they're an awesome Sublime tribute band.
