Theatre Off the Square in Weatherford to present The Trip to Bountiful

Theatre Off the Square in Weatherford invites you to join them for The Trip to Bountiful, May 15-31, 2009. Written by Horton Foote and presented with special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., The Trip to Bountiful is directed by Lana Robinson with assistant director, Kathy Manning.
Joyce Eckstein plays Carrie Watts, an elderly lady with a bad heart determined to get back to her home place in Bountiful, Texas while there’s still time. Currently, she is living in a two room apartment in Houston with her son, Ludie, played by Chuck Hudson, and his wife Jessie Mae, played by Holly Kiehn. Those close quarters can cause tension even under the best circumstances but the living arrangement is necessary since money is tight and Mrs. Watt’s pension check is vital to their living expenses. Her need to get back to Bountiful exceeds her need to stay and help her son and his wife, so Carrie Watt’s devises a plan to make the trip. Left alone for a very brief time, she grabs her suitcase and her pension check and heads home. Not far behind, of course, are Ludie and Jessie Mae who intend to bring her back to Houston.
Theatre Off the Square welcomes several newcomers to their stage in this production with Brian Goates, Dan Parris and Paul Kiehn as ticket agents, Rebecca Young as Thelma, and Lynn Self as the sheriff.
The Trip to Bountiful will be performed weekends, May 15-31, 2009 with Friday and Saturday shows beginning at 8:00 P.M. and Sunday matinees at 2:00 P.M. Audience members will receive a complimentary gift, courtesy of Southwest Ford in Weatherford. Tickets are available in advance at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce and Weatherford Senior Center for $10 or by calling 817-341-8687 (TOTS).
