Dallas ISD may cut teaching staff at magnet schools
Perhaps due in part to the angry parents in the audience, the Dallas school board decided at Thursday night's (May 14) meeting to delay a vote which would potentially have cut the teaching staff at Dallas Independent School District's magnet schools.
The magnet schools - which focus on business, science and the performing arts - cannot be allowed to receive more Title I funding than other schools in the district, if the district is to continue receiving the federal funding, say DISD officials.
School board members will research the matter before proceeding with the vote. (Good job, angry parents!)

This article is helpful in understanding the lack of thought in taking 'funding' away from Booker T. Washington and other magnet school... http://www.dallasobserver.com/2009-05...
