New White Rock Lake parking rules may mean less running events
A Dallas city ordinance that prohibits parking anywhere other than designated parking spaces at White Rock Lake may have the effect of scaring away special events, including road races. There are only 82 such spots, which means parking for races would be offsite and may involve shuttles, which could deter racers from participating.
The ordinance was enacted to protect the grass along the roadways surrounding the lake, where people tended to park in the past.
