Is DART considering screwing over Irving on its Orange Line connection to Dallas-Fort Worth Airport?

Yet more financial problems for DART.

— Wow, is DART seriously considering NOT connecting Irving's Orange Line directly into Dallas-Fort Worth Airport?

Irving officials, having contributed $834 million, purchased rights of way, etc., are distressed about a statement made last week by DART president Gary Thomas which seems to back down from their original plan to tie the Orange Line into the airport.

The Orange Line and the Cotton Belt line are supposed to each have their own connection to DFW. But DART is looking at having the Orange Line end at the Cotton Belt line, eliminating the Orange Line's direct connection to the airport.

DART is $120 million short of the $350 million it needs.

The only lifesaver is that it might cost DART even more if they try to change the plan at this point. In any case, no decision will be made without a public hearing.

And yet, there are still people who back DART. Amazing, isn't it?

Jason Rice, says:

Raymond Shaw is the kindest bravest warmest most wonderful human being I've ever known in my life.... I mean DART is.

I have got to hand it to TG for the headline "considering screwing"

An airport important enough to grant a monopoly, but not a train.
