Dallas chef Brian Luscher wins “celebrity chef” division in cook-off in Hico

— Dallas' own chef/owner Brian C. Luscher of the Grape Restaurant on Greenville Avenue recently won 1st place in the Celebrity Chef Division of the 6th Annual Texas Steak Cook-Off, Beef Symposium and Tourist Trap" held in historic downtown Hico.

The event, which brings more than 6,000 guests to the city was recently featured on the Food Network and will be noted in the May issue of Everyday with Rachael Ray.

His in-house dry-aged prime ribeye, garnered Chef Luscher official First Place bragging rights as well as the Coveted Gold and Silver Texas Steak Cook-off Celebrity Chef Belt Buckle.

"It truly is an honor to be invited to participate in such a well thought out event," says Luscher who has participated for the past 2 years. "And in the end it's all for a good cause supporting Breast Cancer Research with Scott and White Healthcare and College Scholarship grants through Hico High School Memorial Scholarship Fund. I just love this little post card Texas town and couldn't be more proud!"

In honor of the big win, Luscher's recreation of the winning steak will be featured this weekend as a special at The Grape. Friday - Sunday (May 22-24) while supplies last.
