Dallas-Fort Worth second in U.S. for new home construction and sales
Home construction is down by 50% over the last year but Dallas-Fort Worth nonetheless ranks second in the country for new home sales and construction.
Metrostudy Inc., a housing analyst, put out a report that showed 17,000+ houses being started in DFW in the year ending March, and 24,000 houses sold.
Compare that to 2006, when almost 50,000 houses were started. The top city for new home sales and construction is Houston, followed by DFW, Phoenix, Orlando, Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Las Vegas, Chicago, and San Antonio coming in at No. 11.
