Seven horses killed in Fort Worth barn fire, fate for eighth, burned mare still unknown
The barn housed horses owned by Circle L 5, a prominent African-American riding club.
Early Monday morning members of the Circle L 5 Riding Club lost seven horses in an unexplained barn fire. Six horses died in the blaze, while a seventh horse had to be put down because of extensive burns. An eighth horse, a mare, has burns over 20-30% of her body. While she is considered in fair condition at the moment, veterinarians are watching her to make sure she is not in too much pain, and will decide whether or not she'll need to be put down, as well. If not, the mare may receive skin grafts.
The Circle L 5 Riding Club was founded in the early 1950s and today is a prominent African-American riding club with 80 members.
